On 7/27/2010 at 1:30pm, Fayetteville Police responded to a shoplifting call at the Aldi’s grocery store, located at 3447 Ramsey Street. When officers arrived, the suspects had left and a suspect vehicle description was given. After canvassing the area, officers located the vehicle at the Family Dollar, located at 2800 Ramsey Street. The suspects attempted to split up and flee on foot as they left the store but were apprehended by police.
It was discovered that the suspects had stolen hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise, mostly frozen food and perishable items, from Aldi’s, Family Dollar and the Dollar General Store on Ramsey Street. Police arrested the team, all of which have prior criminal records and all of whom remain in jail on bond.
Arrested and charged with Felony Conspiracy and Larceny from a Merchant, a new offense which involves the removal of security devices, are:
· Shante Levee Ferguson, 25, of 619 Cape Fear Avenue, $4500 bond.
· Danielle Monique Jones, 25, of 612 River Front Lane, $1500 bond.
· Alexandra Gaberille McLaurin, 22, of 708 Blue Street, $2500 bond.
· Gregory Arnold Sykes, 45, of 1032 Little Avenue, $7500 bond.
“It’s the career criminals and repeat offenders that give this city a bad name”, said Police Chief Tom Bergamine, who recently released crime stats which show a downward turn in crime here. The repeat offenders get arrested time and time again for the same types of crimes and make it bad on everyone. It’s very frustrating. At the very least, the public should take note of their names and their mug shots and be wary when they see them.”
